It’s not what you eat between Christmas and New Years, it’s what you eat between New Years and Christmas that counts. : )
But if you’re concerned about weight gain over the holidays, use these three simple tricks to keep your hard earned figure.
Stay Motivated & Do Your Workouts! Make a date, grab a buddy and head off to the gym. Make up a quick bodyweight workout you can do at home (think speed squats, pushups, etc). Keep it fun and register for a new class you’ve been dying to try.
Avoid an All or Nothing Approach. I see this often with my clients; They feel since they’re having a large cheat meal, they can eat crap all day. It doesn’t work that way! You didn’t get a license to eat anything you want! Eat healthy the rest of the day and you may not gain anything at all.
Use Carb Cycling Techniques. Reduce your intake of starchy carbs (grain, oats, rice) two days before the big holiday meal and one day after. That way the muscle glycogen is depleted before the meal and the wonderful treats like candied yams, cookies, and gravy will likely be stored in the muscle rather than the fat cells.
Stick to these easy tricks and you may even lose fat during the Holidays!
